Echo tools 3.2.36 upgrade for Echo handheld tools

We are happy to announce the Echo tools 3.2.36 upgrade for handheld tools with several new features, fixes, and improvements!

The new features include support for LTE PCI locking on the latest device models, and the option to store voice quality recordings to measurement files.

LTE PCI locking support for the latest device models

Support for LTE PCI locking has been added for the latest device models. This expands further the already existing PCI locking capability for the new device models. With the LTE PCI locking feature support for the latest device models, you can now force these new devices to lock PCI in LTE channels and bands and get the most out of your measurements! However, please note that the PCI locking does not function on some of the older phone models.

Voice quality recording stored in the measurement file

The option to store voice quality recordings to measurement files has been added to handheld devices in this release. This feature enables you to store received voice clips to a log file and to playback them in post-processing. It also allows you to listen to the impairment of voice on low MOS score cases and further understand what kind of voice quality issue was detected.

Additional improvements and fixes

The other improvements and fixes include the following items.

Improved features:

  • The cellular connect script command changed to fail immediately instead of after a 20-second timeout when Wi-Fi is already connected
  • The screenshot request changed to take picture of the screen instead of the app window if the device has root access
  • The streaming of survey data over a remote connection has been optimized.

Additional Fixes:

  • Some devices losing 5G bands
  • LTE parameter lists occasionally display old values after a channel change
  • LTE TX and RX antennas not synchronizing with Serving Cell Config List
  • Note attachments saving the wrong type for videos
  • LTE modulated scan messages sent from Android devices not synchronizing when using remote transfers.

The new version will be pushed to Cloud shortly and it will be offered as an automatic update.

In addition, a tip if you are uncertain about updating: you can always configure the version you want to be installed in the Cloud. The version can be specified on a sub-account basis, so you can assign a different version for one user for verification and propagate the update to the rest of the users once verification testing has been done.

Happy upgrading!
